Ilkley Pride and Diversity Projects
West Yorkshire Police
Last year Ilkley pride and diversity group, its members and number of local businesses were subject to a campaign of homophobic and hateful behaviour. West Yorkshire police acted swiftly and thanks to information provided by a few Ilkley Businesses the culprit was dissuaded from continuing their behaviour.
Following this incident the Ilkley Pride and Diversity team were invited to a meeting with West Yorkshire Police chaired by inspector Katy Madden. It was then agreed the two organisations would work closely moving forward to help tackle hate crime across the region, improve reporting methods and help the force improve its relationship with the community. We look forward to developing this relationship further in 2024.
